Iron deficiency and dysregulation

Unnoticed is a very passive voice for something that is not a passive thing to do. Very much like the "invisible illness" language. It's not invisible when you explicitly refuse to look what is right in front of you.

Prevalence of Iron Deficiency and Iron-Deficiency Anemia in US Females Aged 12-21 Years, 2003-2020 (2023)

Angela C. Weyand, MD1; Alexander Chaitoff, MD, MPH2; Gary L. Freed, MD, MPH3; et al

Iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia are common, underappreciated conditions with significant morbidity and mortality despite widespread availability of effective treatment. Historically, the focus of screening has been preschool-aged and pregnant persons. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends anemia screening for nonpregnant female adolescents and women every 5 to 10 years,1 whereas the US Preventive Services Task Force does not address screening for these populations.

Like the horrible feeling you get it’s assumed as ‘not a problem’ even if it is low … based on tail wags dog of ‘there’s no treatment and no clinic so nowhere to report all these people [ on Twitter ] and their feeling awful and symptoms to when they do go to GP and finally get a test result’ which then becomes a guideline of ‘it causes no symptoms’ somehow? Or maybe ‘just restless leg syndrome’

My ferritin levels, after been diagnosed with M.E many years was 10. I experienced thinning hair, eventually losing 50% of my thick hair. An eminent PhD trichologist( who has written papers on the subject) told me ferritin levels for females need to be at 150 for good follicle growth. I’ve had to take iron for most of my life. If I stop, my levels return to low range. You can still suffer with symptoms with low iron stores, despite haemoglobin levels being sufficient/ not anaemic.
