Is anyone else badly affected by pollen?

Hi @Sarah94

Yeah, I’ve tried Prevalin - it’s helpful to a certain point. We don’t dry clothes outside, windows kept closed when pollen rises and falls. We have two air purifiers too, they are helpful.

I can’t have anti inflammatory medication too often as it irritates my stomach and I have to use them as a last resort for pain and migraines.

It’s a real problem. I am affected for most of the Spring and Summer.

Thanks.

@wigglethemouse thanks - that looks similar to Prevalin
According to the ingredients and description Prevalin seems to form a barrier in the nose.

Nasalcrom is similar to the eye drops mentioned earlier in that in contains sodium cromolyn to stabilise mast cells in your nose and try and prevent them from releasing histamine that causes the runny nose. In simple terms Prevalin is a barrier to try and block the allergen, Nasalcrom tries to calm down the allergy response preventing mediator release. Anti-histamines block the histamine mediators produced in the allergy response. Hope that helps.

Thanks, that would be good to try. I’ll have a look.

Yes. I’ve always suffered with allergies ..particularly tree pollen and rapeseed. Also fine animal hair.

Since getting ME this has got much much worse and high pollen count correlates with deteriorating symptoms for me. I’ve also had some bad local skin reactions that have needed a course of steroids.

I take loratadine daily and have been doing so for the last year ..so far it seems to have helped reduce the peaks, although this year has been strange, weather-wise and the pollen counts have been generally lower than last year so....???

I’m bad with tree pollen. Not noticed animal hair.

Yes, high pollen always worsens ME. I have had mild skin reactions in the past.

I can’t tolerate antihistamines very well. Yes, the weather has been really strange.
