As reported in this Reddit thread, Code: https://www.reddit.com/r/cfs/comments/a1y7mb/we_made_it_on_jeopardy/ this question was asked on the quiz show Jeopardy recently, "Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease is an AKA for this syndrome?" A little bit of progress maybe?
So I'm rereading the question from 2015, and it is different from the one @Andy posted. So there could have been 2 separate airings asking the SEID question.
I thought the whole point of SEID was to distance ourselves from chronic fatigue not be synonymized with it.
I watched this Jeopardy episode. I thought it was reductive to equate systemic exertion intolerance with chronic fatigue. I think of PEM as a symptom, not the whole enchilada.
What I am seeing is a campaign to rename the disease ( also saw something on Dr oz and other paid airways. 1) Are all this plp / tv shows/ magazines.. that never gave a crap allOf The sudden care and all magically now call it SEID and in such a short time spam. 2) if there is a educational Campaine to the new name, who is behind it? I don’t knwo of any M.E. group that was in aupport to new name ( I might be wrong). 3) what is wrong with ME that is classified as neurologically. Why do we need this new name with no classification, or is this an effort to new clasification.
I saw the recent version of this. The category was acronyms. The question was the recent new acronym for chronic fatigue syndrome. I, too, did not like the equating of SEID with CFS.
