Loooong Headaches

Hello,

As opposed to headaches in plural, I had the worst most constant headache start yesterday, not long after awakening. It continued all day, even into falling asleep at night. Even today I have the same headache, less intense, but still almost tender.

Can anyone relate to this? Completely new to me.

I do get headaches in plural and manage them, but I don't get migraines, cluster headaches, etc. I also don't think I have caricatured stroke symptoms.

I've called the NHS 111 and am awaiting a ring back. I'll certainly be avoiding mentioning ME....

You were right to make the call. A new headache or a new kind of headache should always be mentioned to a doctor. @InfiniteRubix
First GP I've seen in years and the best I've seen, ever. Old school thorough. He even asked about whether I've been having particular ME flare ups, using that language, when I was avoiding the topic of ME. Something tells me even knew about LDN (we reviewed my pharma history). He was incredibly thorough. He'd have been an excellent ME specialist, personality wise.

He's sending me for an opthalmic review, but just belts and braces. Impressive. Sadly, he was out of hours and not my normal surgery :(

Thank you everyone again.

4+5 day headaches are quite common for me I don't think I have had a single day in the last 30 years without a headache. some are very short lasting cluster headaches that are very painful but not worth taking paracetamol for because they go naturally within 10 to fifteen minutes . I am glad you met a decent doctor it is a shame they seem to be a rare breed these days .

Um, not to to be too negative, but I've had a single constant headache for over 15 years.

I'm afraid I'm all too familiar with headaches that last, and last and last. Occasionally, disappearing just in time for a new on to start. I have always been a "headachy" person, even pre ME, caused by hormones, allergies, eyestrain, anaemia, problems with neck muscles, then there's migraines. I find PEM can induce headaches too.

At one point I even inadvertently caused my own headaches. I kept getting headaches everyday so, rather than go see a doctor like a sensible person should, I took ibuprofen. Then I discovered that taking ibuprofen (without medical advice/supervision) everyday can cause headaches.

I agree with the others that seeking medical advice is the right thing to do for headaches or patterns of headaches that are new for you.

I'm really glad to hear you had a positive experience with this doc @InfiniteRubix & I hope you get answers and, better still, some relief soon.

A few months after onset, I had what seemed like one long, continuous migraine that went on for months. Sometimes it was worse than others, but the only real escape was during sleep. Nothing seemed to help, and, by that point, I had given up on mentioning new symptoms to doctors. I'm pretty certain they would have found some way to chalk it up "deconditioning." [eyeroll]

I don't know why the migraines eventually went away anymore than I know why they showed up in the first place. Fortunately, they never returned.

I've not been pacing well enough tha last few weeks. The lactate that accumulates includes the brain, so maybe that's the source of headaches...
