    It is an idiotic generalisation about humans.

    No doubt it is true for some, perhaps even the majority. But there is no justification for asserting it to be a universal truth. Not even close. Plenty of people have found working from home, for example, to be a much better arrangement, and clearly prefer it to having to do the commute thing, which is a giant waste of many people's time.

    Not to mention the consequences for mental health of failing to do proper lock downs and get the pandemic under control.

    I agree, but mental health experts, however were not all whining. The pandemic did have mental health effects on the populations but especially on people with severe mental health conditions, already very vulnerable in terms of disability, just as much as many pwME.
