The story of this young persons fate is absolutely horrible, the plan to avoid such stories seems nothing but dismissive of the actual cause of problems to me. Nothing of what is being suggested here as the solution even makes any sense to me in the context of her case. The GP could have just concluded "well there's no effective therapy for Long-Covid so no wonder you're not getting better, continue as before" or "Long-Covid is still just in your head, so nothing to further investigate". If Jess didn't get passed on to a specialist, like millions of others across the globe, isn't it clear that something is wrong in the system that isn't fixed by a friendly reminder of "things should be different"? If something was missed here due to GPs being unfamiliar with it, how do they all of a sudden become familar with something they can't recognise?
Wouldn't opening up cancer screening to a wider population or increasing incentivites for diagnosing cancer do much more than this empty word salad?
