We had a member here some years back who I think felt ME/CFS was down to misfolded proteins, maybe even related to prion disease. She (?) was usually pretty measured about how she conveyed her suspicians, or at least that's how I recall things.

I do not remember her name, but I do remember wishing to myself she'd expand on her beliefs.
