They haven't got to the documentaries yet. This list on Vox seems to be being updated: https://www.vox.com/2018/1/23/16919890/oscar-nominees-2018-list-nominations Fingers crossed for Jen (and us!).
Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Eugh, stupid Oscar lobbying - Extremely tough to compete with movies that have been years and years in the making and have the power of Netflix lobbying behind them. Have to admit that the field was tough this year though. Last men in Aleppo, Abacus and Icarus all deserved the nominations.
Very disappointed, but not really surprised, given the competition were produced by big companies with big budgets, I think. Let's celebrate the fact that Unrest made it to the shortlist. That's a huge achievement.
@MErmaid that's disappointing. I was curious to see how you would wear red pumps over your fin at the after party.
I do confess, it was a lot like being one of Cinderella’s sisters who tried to squeeze into the famous glass slipper. But the party is over, so I just took off my shoes. But here is a pic.
Disappointing but let's not take that away from what a massive achievement it was to get the film shortlisted. Well done and thanks to Jen and everyone involved!
Just too much completion this year. I too watched hoping Unrest would be chosen. Still you can write a great review for the film on Netflix and imdb. Every little bit of effort goes a long way. Unrest has received a lot of good press, and we will continue to promote the film and increase awareness of our plight. The limelight is not ours today, but tomorrow brings new opportunity.
This Twitter add during the Oscars also features Jennifer Brea. A poem by Denice Frohman. https://twitter.com/user/status/970476149301129216
For @Little Bluestem (and anyone else who couldn't view the poem using the twitter link) here's a youtube version that might work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMfRRzdC48s Video is only 1 minute long. Jen is shown at about 0:35.
