A friend of mine with ME who isn't on the forum is having a procedure that will involve sedation and IV pain relief.

We had a recent discussion here on the forum about what PwME should know about anaesthetic but is there anything we should know about sedation and IV pain relief?

I can only speak about my own personal experience. Over about 40 years I've had at least 14 various surgical procedures with sedation. I had ME at the time of all of them. The only problems I've had are temporary headaches. Nothing has ever affected my ME.

My personal experience, which is four or five procedures with sedation in the last five years, is that as far as I can tell I had no adverse effects.

Had two surgical procedures with sedation/general anesthetic, no IV pain killers. No problems with them.
