What makes it hard that it could be many things. I would suggest logging your activities and the poisoned feeling and see if you see any connections.

However I know that it is really hard to do that even for me and I know you are more severe.

Do epsom salts give you any relief? Or baking soda?

I would be curious about experiences with baking soda specifically, would provide info re: possible lactic acidosis

added: as always, advising caution and medical supervision for anyone who sees these comments and decides to try for themselves, especially for epsom salts since hypermagnesium poisoning is a real risk.

upon further research, it appears that CO poisoning symptoms can also partially be attributed to lactic acidosis due to impaired OxPhos and oxygen distribution. Might explain why with low-level CO exposure I experienced something similar to what more severe people are describing despite being mild/moderate

So anything that impairs cellular metabolism in a similar way to CO and cyanide (to a lesser degree, obviously, since we're not dying of it) actually could be mimicking the effects of real poisons even if no poison is involved.

There was a period when this poisoned feeling was at its worst for me and then I was in a study that included high dose NAC 2000MG. I went through a better time after this. Maybe try this but the actual evidence base for doing this is lacking. Most people who do this say it did not do anything.

I remember at my very severe years when I had this poisoned feeling at it's worst I was constantly having a drink of water. I never use to have a bottle of water by my bed. I was regularly having to reach out and take a few gulps of water at very severe and severe.

I still have water by my bed at moderate but rarely reach for it except during the night now.

I’m glad you mention this, I relate with it very much. Because when I have this feeling I drink 8+ litres of water a day. Sometimes 12 liters total. Like it makes me sooooo thirsty. As it my body is trying to flush something out?

I remember reading about someone who drank many, many liters of water daily, ans how it seemingly was related to low blood volume. I have no idea about the scientific merits of this:

Gastric Symptoms; Reflux, Nausea, Diahhrea, (Weird feeling of hunger probably linked to reflux)
Autonomic: Tatychardia, Overheating, jitteriness, sweating a lot

then some other weird things like excessive thirst. I’m sure there’s a lot more, but my memory is very foggy rn.

I thought this for a long time, but electrolytes make no difference so idk. Thank you for the blog post though, I will scan through it and maybe send to my parents who have suggested I have psychogenic polydipsia in the past…

I’m sorry, that must have been hard. I hope you’re able to find a solution to both the thirst and the poisoned feeling!

Excessive thirst can definitely be caused by other issues besides electrolytes, most notably in diabetes because of excess glucose in the bloodstream.

Not saying there’s necessarily excess glucose for you, but you’re spot on that the body can upregulate urine and thirst to try to “flush something out.” Anything that interferes with the kidneys can also possibly lead to this.

it could be a very useful clue for what’s going on.

sending lots of love, that must be so frustrating to deal with on top of everything else.
