I don't think this article has been shared on the forum yet, and apologies if this is wrong thread. But it's about people still shielding from Covid, including ME patients/carers and with comments from Leonard Jason and Akiko Iwasaki:

news10.com Meet the Americans who still take COVID-19 precautions seriously

Thanks for sharing! @Kalliope.

Having scanned this it has some really good quotes from the people interviewed.
But wee sneaky snarky little bit of propagandising from the author. Have you shared on the Covid media thread too?

We don't have a covid media thread anymore? I miss it even though it did become a monster thread, and think it's difficult to figure out where to best post new media articles on covid. Is it regional news even though the theme is global, is it big enough for its own thread, should it be posted in a thread that is about the same sub theme, is it an ME article if ME is mentioned and so on..

What when did that disappear?

Is this the same as media articles on long COVID because I think that maybe the one I am thinking of here anyway?

I’d say it would be Covid first because we’re still in a viral pandemic and moving into an even more deadly one. This article specifically is about taking precautions not to die or become debilitated. And other people just not getting it because…

Or long COVID because the politics are all about that

and ME last or additionally why not, it’s rare to see us get this kind of representation.

But I see your dilemma I can’t even search threads

Yes, I'm quite sure we're talking about the same thread. It was massive in the end. But it's so interesting to see how the conversation in public is evolving regarding LC. Perhaps we could try again with a new thread for each month so it's more manageable? I'd be happy to start that thread each month.

Oh yes my angel!
Please do.

I feel like it’s like those articles on ME from 1993. Real historical gems in all their gorey splendour.

So as not to divert this thread, I've responded in a spoiler.
We had those monster threads for a couple of years for Long Covid in the media and social media. They became a bit of a nightmare for mods because they were used as a dumping ground for anything from local media articles of the 'Joe the plumber can't work because he has Long Covid' and random tweets from random people about not very much, to really important articles like Ed Yong ones, to articles about specific research papers.

There were overlapping discussions of different articles and important stuff being missed in the crowd. Mods did our best to keep up with sorting things onto relevant threads, but it was a lot of work.

So we closed those threads and asked people to put local news on local threads, research articles on research threads, and articles of international interest on new threads. It seems to work pretty well most of the time. It also cut down the stream of random irrelevant tweets being posted.

If you're worried about where to post, ask a mod, or post where seems best and mods can move it if it's better elsewhere.

The question has been raised for mods to discuss again.

The article inspired this headline from the satire twitter account The Vertlartnic

Meet The Bizarre Americans Who Are Still Taking Not Being Hit By Buses Seriously.
