I struggle a bit with something that has that interactive element, it is just my personal thing there that I'm not a fan of when soemone is reading out comments people are making as they go.

He does well at noting the harms of gaslighting at the start which I think it is important actually get confirmed. MOst gaslighters pretend their doing it is without harm/injury.

I will note the first tip I've seen (I'm fast-forwarding through a bit so might have missed one) which is: Bring someone with you , because it is harder to gaslight two people at the same time.

I will note that this to me flags something desperately needed for ME: to develop a team of advocates for pwme to take to appointments of any kind.

FIrstly because we are really stuffed in self-advocating because even if we have the capability, we then get the 'you're mad' card pulled out on us.

But also because a lot of us will find that even if we have someone close enough who might go to such appointments there is no guarantee that they aren't susceptible to being 'co-opted' which is what has happened for a lot of pwme over the decades. The one thing worse than being alone and gaslighted is for such a person to instead focus on training that significant other to gaslight you, and I think there is a lot of potential for that with ME or pwme in all sorts of appointments.

3. is have a diary at home: to give you objective data, collect thoughts (confirm to yourself you are ill) etc - pertinent to discussion on measures going on currently I think here on other threads if people are being suggested what to write and how to see it. He mentions eg I know my thoughts and data and these are showing a trend in a non-healing direction - again the words 'trend' being something I'm not necessarily seeing discussed either with the talk about measures.

4. about status things that might 'throw you off' in power-differential like asking the person to sit down on your level, ask if you can put your clothes back on before you talk etc

id actually caution against that... at least in UK if your advocate writes it down then fine, but you writing it down, if they are already leaning towards believing you have a psychosomatic condition, in my experience this will lead to it being conformed. - that has been my condition, i even had a dr snigger at me for writing down what she said - it seems to be interpreted as an indication that you are overly invested in having something serious that needs note taking. a la hypochondriasis/health anxiety.

The culture might be different outside of the uk, but i have personally been in 2 encounters where the reaction to my taking notes was negative in the way i described - all part of the gaslighting, but in the uk you cant just walk out of the consultants office and go see someone else, so just... be careful
 
Yeah that Dr. Kaveh guy is a worry. I don’t know if he’s means well and just needs to build a brand or just needs to build a brand. I’ve come across him before and tbh the sales pitch makes me feel ill. Or the camera angles.

Anyhow literally every other YT video seems to be someone talking about narcissism while speaking with creepy slow motion auctioneer TV intonation. Possibly while rocking back and forth towards the camera in what is presumably supposed to be a hypnotic manner, like you’re a presenter on a shopping channel.
 
I'm going to see a doctor for the first time regarding ME/CFS in a month, and I'm very worried about what exactly is going to happen after I say "chronic fatigue syndrome". I don't want her to start suggesting antidepressants or exercise. Sure I can respond to these (name an antidepressant I've probably tried it, and the more I exercise, the worse I am), but I'm so tired, I don't want to have that conversation. I don't want to be on the defensive. I want a conversation where we're working together to help me, not having a battle of who's right.

Ideally, she'd swivel in her chair to the computer, pull up the CDC criteria, and ask if I experience them, then say, yeah, it sounds like it to me.
