A student has received an undisclosed payment from
Cornwall Council for a lack of access to education.
Maddie Jones was forced to attend
Hayle School on a part-time basis as she suffers from the neurological illness ME.
However, both
the school and local authority failed to act and Maddie missed out on six months of full-time education and the possibility of one-to-one education on the run-up to her GCSEs.
As a result of a Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGO) ruling Cornwall Council has agreed to take steps to address faults in its education system.
