Dear all,

Happy New Year! We hope you all had wonderful Christmas breaks. Since it is the beginning of a new year, here is a little summary of what we got up to in 2017:

-- We were delighted to announce that last September, we were awarded a whopping US$2.1m of grant funding from the U.S National Institutes of Health. This means that we have since been able to launch a second phase of our longitudinal study, that will measure changes in the immune system and genetic profile of people with ME/CFS. We can now collect and store more blood samples and clinical data from a wider range of participants.

-- Due to our Biobank becoming richer in samples, external researchers from across the globe have applied to use our resources. Samples have been sent to Brazil, Spain and Oxford, and many other applications are in process.

-- In November, we also had the privilege of hosting a screening of Jennifer Brea’s documentary film Unrest and holding a live-streamed Q&A with a specialist panel. It was a great evening and since then, the film has been shortlisted for an Oscar nomination. We also attended a special screening of the film at the Houses of Parliament.
