Highly Specialist Pain Physiotherapist | Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

The Pain Service is an award-winning therapy led interdisciplinary team embedded within the Locomotor Service, which provides management of acute and persistent musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal pain in the community. We have expanded our remit to work with patients with myalgic encephalomyelitis/ chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/ CFS) in the last three years, and more recently, a COVID-19 Rehabilitation service (C&H CoRe).

This is an opportunity to gain experience and develop skills in managing a caseload of patients with complex, chronic pain; applying the core principles of physiotherapy within a psychological framework to support patients to live well with pain.

The Pain Service consists of highly specialist professionals including Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a non-medical prescriber and Extended Scope practitioner and four Pain Specialist Consultants. There are opportunities to work jointly with a variety of members within the team including MDT assessments, consultant clinics and group work.
The service places a strong emphasis on supporting post graduate training with a more recent example of some in house Acceptance and Commitment Therapy training by an outside provider.
