The Bristol M.E. Service offers holistic assessments and support to patients living with ME/CFS, Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and Long Covid. The successful candidate will be a Counselling, Health or Clinical Psychologist with a background in supporting patients to live optimally with ongoing health problems.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder would be responsible for providing assessments and advice to patients, Primary Care and others as required such as employers regarding the management of the problems faced by the patient. The Service offers individual and group-based support and the post-holder may be involved in the delivery of groups which support patients in developing self-management and coping strategies.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide expertise for the care of patients at all stages of the care pathways. This extends to the support of carers, staff and relatives, the promotion of psychologically informed and sophisticated systems of care and service development. It will involve a substantial proportion of out-patient activity and clinical liaison. The role includes:
- Managing a caseload of interventions for people with ME/CFS, PVFS and Long Covid
- Providing support, training, liaison and consultation as needed to professional colleagues to further develop and support the highest standards of care as part of the overall service provision.
