    Trigger warning: exercise

    (I suggest watching from 2:07 to 10:57, then 12:05 to 12:30.)

This video from NHS cardiologist Dr Rohin Francis presents cardiovascular exercise testing in patients with heart failure (HF). The purpose is to assess whether they require a heart transplant.

Shown in the video are the cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET), the invasive CPET and echocardiography during an exercise test. Through these examinations, Dr Francis explains in simple terms the cardiovascular and respiratory parameters that relate to fitness as well as the anaerobic threshold.

Dr Francis underlines the importance of cardiovascular testing in patients with HF in that it provokes symptoms that would be missed by at-rest examinations (e.g. breathlessness), which I found to be an interesting parallel with ME.
