NZ - Complex Chronic Illness Support - Towards Wellness course

Having forgiven everybody, can you imagine the smug smile on her face? How many furious people don't have cancer? I'm fucking livid, and I don't appear to have.

    Reading words incorrectly

Me too, I've only noticed it recently. I've always been meticulous about spelling, but recently I've found that after writing a post and reading it over one last time, I find things like "here" instead of "hear" etc. I think it's getting worse. I spelt a word with a "y" instead of an "i" a...

Cochrane's plans to update its COI policy

But I could never have whipped out the source document with the ruthless speed and efficiency of @JohnTheJack, plus before today I had assumed that Michael Sharpe was just boasting about being able to balance on a horse.

Cochrane's plans to update its COI policy

Um, yeah, so are we. How do we report it? "Equipoise". That word has a familiar ring to it.

Trust Me, I'm a Scientist - Richard Dawkins

Well just for you I have just listened to it again and re-lived the trauma. It irritates me because of the way the subject matter was dealt with, and the style of presentation. First the style of presentation. I teach BA students how to give presentations, and one of the things I'm quite strict...

Caroline Struthers' correspondence and blog on the Cochrane Review: 'Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome, 2017 and 2019, Larun et al.

This could be based on Cochrane deciding to take at face value the authors' estimate of when the imminent resubmission would be made. If so this leaves plenty of scope for footdragging and Cochrane being surprised that the resubmission is taking longer than the authors' initially estimated.

Trust Me, I'm a Scientist - Richard Dawkins

Tempted to download and listen to this, but as it almost certainly contains hypocrytical bullshit from Ben Goldacre and Fiona Fox I probably shouldn't, especially as I listen to podcasts whilst I'm driving and if I start ranting and swearing (which I always do if someone says something stupid in...

Woman faked qualifications and worked in uk as a psychiatrist for 20 years

They couldn't, until she tried nicking 1.3 million quid, at which point someone somewhere raised an eyebrow and thought "Hang on, that's a bit brazen even for a UK psychiatrist ..." Being a foreigner, she didn't realise that in the UK psychiatrists pull off such scams in teams, for much larger...

Based on past encounters I would recommend not feeding EG.

2016 Psychology Today article discusses overcoming CFS through dealing with stressful situations from past.

I'm hopeful that CFS can be overcome once the stressful situation of the last 30 years has been dealt with.

Action for ME: "We need your help! Connect M.E. survey"

I was quoting AfME's current position on the matter. If the volunteers didn't know not to encourage an increase in activity, or didn't know more than most doctors about ME, they shouldn't be allowed near ME sufferers. It's bad enough that those who can have to hide from the medical profession...

Action for ME: "We need your help! Connect M.E. survey"

Well, you could ask people who say they want to help whether they believe that encouraging increases in activity may be suitable for some cases of mild ME.

    New Zealand: Dr Vallings

I would like to suggest type FFS personality. I don't even accept that there is an effective way to categorise personality types, or that they are fixed or particularly meaningful. I can be as lazy as anyone, on the other hand I can be very driven and hard-working for sustained long periods...

Pity he didn't read it properly when I wrote that I wish he'd put a sock in it.

    Golden hour (/month)

I think I've noticed that I feel worse when the temperature is changing. If it's stable, ie during a long hot summer, or when it's cold and stays cold, I can feel ok for weeks as long as I stay within my limits. But when the temperature is changing between different spells of weather, I can go...
