Action for ME has joined S4ME

Woefully wrong. There is no evidence that GET is of any benefit to mild/moderate sufferers, and plenty of reports of it being extremely harmful. There is no such thing as an appropriately trained professional in this context - what is the appropriate training for delivering a useless / harmful...

Merryn Crofts - media and inquest

I was thinking that. He's a pantomime villain making it clear to everyone how bad this shit is. Glad to see Michael Sharpe showing his usual good judgement and associating himself. I'm starting to like Twitter, it's rather good at succinctly showing people up for what they are.

Scottish MP Carol Monaghan and her work for people with ME/CFS

    "PACE-splaining". I like that.

Mind, Madness and Power - Simon Wessely and others

I don't know whether Wessley is a sociopath, narcisist or whatever, and I'm not sure I'd want to use those terms because I'm reluctant to validate the psychs' habit of making up labels and applying them liberally. The thing that bothers me most about Wessely is that he isn't a scientist. And...

BBC The Inquiry - Is the Knowledge Factory Broken?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3csvsy8 Interesting 23-minute podcast touching on a lot of issues relevant to the BPS brigade and ME research, although they aren't mentioned, and the problems seem a lot more widespread than just our little corner.

Rethinking the treatment of CFS — a reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of GET and CBT (2018) Wilshire et al.

I read "French flautist" and thought it was ironic. EDIT: I've just read the link. My brother can do that.

Rethinking the treatment of CFS — a reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of GET and CBT (2018) Wilshire et al.

I confess to googling it too before I posted, and got as far as Hamlet. Apparently Shakespeare's use of peter rather than petard may have been a deliberate pun. I regret my use of "string", and see now that it was a word chosen with undue haste, nay recklessness. Perhaps "cluster" of petards, or...

Keep the bullshit coming Mr Sharpe. When Sharpe and Wesseley get rattled the first thing they do is throw out a string of petards by which they may be hoisted.

    Levocetirizine dihydrochloride (Xyzal)

I used to take cetirizine for allergies before I got ME. It makes you tired, so I was told to take it just before I went to bed. Since having ME I've had to stop taking cetirizine, on top of ME it just wiped me out.

Tinnitus poll: Do you experience it?

I suffer from tinnitus that can be attributed to a particular cause, so I clicked "no". At the age of 15 I went to see AC/DC on their Back in Black tour at the Deeside Leisure Centre (ticket cost me five quid). As it was my first concert, I didn't know that pushing my way to the front and...

Action for ME has joined S4ME

There is no question of S4ME becoming a platform for AfME. Any statements they make may be challenged within the rules. If they choose not to respond, their silence will speak volumes and the challenges will not stop. We have a rule about discussion of events on other forums. This does not cover...

    GETSET letters in The Lancet

Reading this response from the authors, I misread "teletherapy" as "telepathy". Knowing who the authors were, it only caused me to half raise one eyebrow.
