Radio Food Programme says doctors not taught about food

Not a great day yesterday, so will get back to this later today hopefully. This is a talk to the European parliament to address nutritional diseases via diet not pills. No doubt it will touch on the science as Aseem Malhotra is one of the few doctors who can statistically interpret research...

Therapeutic patient education in adrenal insufficiency, 2018, Guignat

Anyone able to shed any light on hydrocortisone dosage from this. Not having much joy with it and endo a stickler for " peer reviewed" information.

PACE trial TSC and TMG minutes released

I think the gist is that they do not think about what they are actually measuring. There are many assumptions on linear relationships that are simply not there - it seems that once you have converted something to a figure it loses its identity as a thing in itself.

Higher prevalence of ‘low T3 syndrome’ in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome: A case-control study (2018) Ruiz-Núñez et al.

Came across this when looking into adrenals as opposed to thyroid- scroll down to low thyroid function. Don' t know how old this is, but supports hypometabolic state. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.drlam.com/blog/adrenal-fatigue-and-low-thyroid-gland-function/5298/amp/

Radio Food Programme says doctors not taught about food

I would disagree re dieticians. My cousin had cancer- her recommended diet was shockingly bad for that condition. Guidelines re diet are not based on much solid science, more vested interests. But then we have fostered 2 generations who cannot cook from scratch. That is a bigger issue.

Formula looks like a work rate Gravitational potential energy is mass x gravity x height, adding time and heart rate looks as though it' s trying to link heart rate to work done. Sort of like heart monitoring ?

Pediatric chronic fatigue syndrome: current perspectives (Crawley)

Vague- no definition to date if what " better" actually is. Whilst most people would take it to mean full recovery, i suspect it' s living within a slightly increased energy envelope that enables school and some social life. Most adults i have heard from that had ME following glandular fever...

incredibly ironic as a lot of teenagers will use Fitbit type devices and be used to them. For the cost of a number of identical devices there could be data on sleep, activity, heartrate.... not difficult. My daughter also uses an app to track activity etc on her phone - not as comprehensive as...

    Hydrocortisone - good or bad?

Thanks Helen. I have emailed the document and the recent low T3 paper to GP form onwards transmission to consultant. Our GP halved the dosage and this helped (10-5mg), however there is a definite dose response and symptoms flared up again after a few days of skin getting better. I think this...

"It's like being a slave to your own body in a way": a qualitative study of adolescents with CFS

Any adolescent with a chronic illness will feel a huge range of emotions ( as does any adolescent). Having a life so different to your peers, not physically or mentally being able to join in activities, or keep up with or even engage with education in some cases, is bound to affect self...

What is Action for ME's current (March 2018) position on the PACE trial?

Clare, the reanalysis was per the original protocol. This shows that CBT/ GET are not effective for any group, not even controls. CBT is concerning for many as there is little robust evidence that it is an effective treatment for anything. GET is contraindicative for ME- effectiveness of this...
