Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

I've been granted one question. What would you ask? (Remember the rules...)

(Apologies if I put anyone off their tea. There are another two videos that I couldn't watch.)

Just came across this on Lancet TV. (Sorry in advance...)

Publications that show ME is biological

It was this one: And this one: [I should just add that he does not explicitly say that PACE was not supposed to focus on ME/CFS - but we were trying to get him to explain what he meant by them being looked at separately for research purposes when they clearly combined them in PACE.]

Ideas For Marketing ME More Effectively...

Re: Forget-ME-not... I've been using mine for a few years now (during May). Only thing is that it's also used by Alzheimer's charities.

Ideas For Marketing ME More Effectively...

I attended the #MillionsMissing demo in London on Saturday, and one thing particularly struck me. And I feel really quite awkward saying it, but I was struck by how ill people looked. But when I look at the photos posted online, people are smiling and look reasonably well. I guess there is a...

BBC Newsbeat: M.E. And Me - documentary available from Tuesday 8th May, 6am

Excellent documentary. Hopefully, if it gets enough online traffic, BBC will also show it on mainstream TV at some point. They've done that with other BBC3 docs.

I really don't know. I'm also not a very good speaker!

A general thread on the PACE trial!

Another thing I haven't mentioned (yet). When I published my first blog on the PACE trial (2 years ago), Sonya Choudhury got in touch with me to ask if I would speak at the CMRC conference about it. I declined, because I felt that such an unscientific study had no place at a scientific...

A general thread on the PACE trial!

Others have already tried this route and got nowhere, I'm afraid. They simply don't accept it as valid scientific criticism. Once they've put you in the flat-earther, anti-vaxx, climate-denial, alien-conspiracy-theory, anti-science camp, it doesn't matter what you say or how valid it is. It's...

A general thread on the PACE trial!

Last week, I wrote to my ex-boss (Richard Horton) about my concerns regarding The PACE trial, and in particular, the way the review process was handled. Over the weekend, I got a response. They won't budge on this. As far as The Lancet is concerned, PACE trial is "science". So I suspect that...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

I thought #MEAction did this a while ago as part of #StopGET. But there does need to be a more systematic way of recording harms from non-pharmacological therapies, including psych, medical devices, etc.

Guardian: 'People are scared': the fight against a deadly virus [HTLV-1] no one has heard of

This virus has been known about for a long time. Here's an article about it: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(07)70081-6/fulltext

David Tuller's new crowdfunding campaign (April 1, 2018)

Quite. But it's the fact that he's making the accusation. Why would he even go there?

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

This is just getting more and more bizarre. M Sharpe: "I am afraid that I do know what has been done outside trials to produce these reported harms." Sounds like he is accusing trial participants of deliberately overexerting themselves outside the trial to demonstrate harm. That's just not on...

I'm concerned about these accusations coming from a certain M Sharpe:

    The biopsychosocial model

I did a post on this topic a couple of years ago. The main flaw with the biopsychosocial model is that it can be moulded to serve any agenda. https://lucibee.wordpress.com/2016/03/15/engel-and-the-biopsychosocial-model/
