If I had the energy I'd compare this to their previous work on why the criteria doesn't matter, but I can't say I feel like it. Seems like many of the same arguments.
Protein ratios may have a biological relevance, they may not. If the proteins are connected in some way, like they are both important for a specific function, a change in ratio between them could imply that something is going on in that pathway. But we don't really know what the normal ratio...
My degrees are in biomedicine and in (soon-to-be clinical) nutrition.
I don't think everyone have access to a journal club. I've been part of one, in neurobiology, where one of the professors were working on making a course for psychology students sort of like a journal club. From that I gather...
As someone taking a health-care education, I don't understand where we students are supposed to learn to read studies or evaluate evidence. We have maybe 5-10 ECTS in scientific methods in five years of education. Some of my stat courses have been with med students, they don't seem to have any...
Isn't that part of the mandate for Recovery Norway, to help research such conditions? I don't feel like reading their webpage to find out.
You forgot the patients has to be newly diagnosed so they don't identify too much with the illness.
This thread is split from the "Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS. BMJ articles." thread that can be found here: https://www.s4me.info/threads/paul-garner-on-long-covid-and-me-cfs-bmj-articles.15629

I don't recall any expression studies, do you have references? I remember two studies that indicated increased gut permeability/reduced gut barrier function, and one study where they found a mutation in actin (cellular skeleton component) I think.
I have some nail pitting/Beaus lines (not sure when it goes from a pit to a horizontal line to be honest), I guess it has to do with my psoriasis. Only two nails, one of them almost never, the other one had a pit or line for most of last year, sometimes multiple. Coincides with my psoriasis...
@Kalliope do you know how to get in touch with Sissel or Jørn? There are some errors in this post, when they explain the biochemistry. The contact form does apparently not work if I am to understand a reply I got just now that Trine is not using the blog service anymore..
Yes, the practical
This! ME was not mentioned at all when we were taught about different diseases where such help could be necessary :banghead:
I did not read past the central sensitization, I just enjoy the topic :P
I would very much like to know. It wouldn't surprise me for moderate/severe, and even some mildly affected. Many symptoms of ME can disturb food prep and/or appetite.
There is a rehab centre in my town where they sometimes have ME patients, some of them keep food in the drawer next to bed...
