Amitriptyline Downregulates Chronic Inflammatory Response to Biomaterial in Mice, 2020, Scheuermann et al

Interesting idea. My heart rate has been quite high for years - at least the last 10 - 12 years I would say. It isn't that uncommon for me to have a heart rate over 90, but these days I take a small dose of a beta blocker if it goes too high. For me, life with a high heart rate (100+) is...

New draft NICE guidelines for chronic pain emphasises exercise, CBT and acupuncture over medication

Interestingly enough, Jo Daniels Twitter account seems to have been suspended. Edit : Turns out that the Twitter account has been restricted by Daniels herself such that tweets can only be read by members "approved" by her. When I click on the above link I get told the account has been...

Amitriptyline Downregulates Chronic Inflammatory Response to Biomaterial in Mice, 2020, Scheuermann et al

I actually did well on low-dose (20mcg per night if I remember correctly) Amitriptyline for a short time. It reduced pain and improved my sleeping. Unfortunately, within a few weeks my heart rate shot up to 150 beats per minute. Tachycardia is a known side-effect of the drug which is listed in...

Three principles/innate health: The efficacy of psycho-spiritual mental health education for people with CFS, 2020, El-Mokadem et al

I find it disturbing that this psychological trash seems to be drifting into becoming a religion now.

BMC family practice integrated GP care for patients with persistent physical symptoms, 2020, Chalder et al

Like the medical belief in the four humours which originated with the Ancient Greeks, for example. That belief lasted for about 2000 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humorism#Four_humors

Going to See the Paediatrician, 2020, Kozlowska et al

I'm afraid that Abstract makes my skin crawl. It seems to suggest that the first and most important duty of the paediatrician is to put in place a mental health diagnosis, and the issue of checking for treatable disease is an afterthought.

Cochrane Review: Psychological therapies for the management of chronic pain (excluding headache) in adults, 2020, C De C Williams et al

I disagree with this totally - whether this makes me different from other people I don't know. If the sensation or experience of pain is treated to either reduce or eliminate it then most of the other effects of being in pain on my life might disappear. To me, what I suffered from with all the...

Cochrane Review: Psychological therapies for the management of chronic pain (excluding headache) in adults, 2020, C De C Williams et al

I can only assume that the people working in NHS Pain Centres are those who have no experience of severe and untreated pain that almost never stops and rarely reduces. So, I asked the question are they humans or robots, and I'll answer my own question - they are sadists and robots. Both my...
