    Electrolytes

Just worked out BCAA stands for Branched Chain Amino Acids. :-)

    Electrolytes

Looks like the same amounts of amino acids. Certainly interesting that it seems to have helped. I “think” my electrolyte mix helps me, but really, I’m not sure. If nothing else I’m better hydrated.

    Electrolytes

Interesting. I make up my own electrolyte solution, however this seems to be more about amino acids than salts? I found the Scivation Xtend on Amazon: “Ingredients: L-Leucine (3.5g), L-Glutamine (2.5g), L-Isoleucine (1.75g), L-Valine (1.75g), L-Citrulline DL-Malate (1g), Flavours, Acidity...

Abnormal blood lactate accumulation during repeated exercise testing in ME/CFS, 2019, Lien et al

Sorry - should also have said that this is a very interesting paper, showing clear differences in how ME peeps react to exertion.

Abnormal blood lactate accumulation during repeated exercise testing in ME/CFS, 2019, Lien et al

Can anyone explain to me why the p values I’ve highlighted the graphs on pages 6 & 7 are so low? Surely those p values should not be so low? Or am I mis-interpreting something?

To pay attention - The brain uses filters not a spotlight.

I haven’t managed to read it all yet, but this looks really interesting. Presumably applying filters to incoming information is an active process, thus this could explain the ME overwhelm in busy environments. I’ll read in more depth later when spoons are more plentiful! :P

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

As a student I found touching my toes nigh on impossible. I was fit, healthy and did all that ‘80s Aerobics stuff complete with leotard and leg warmers. I once decided that I “needed” to be able to touch my toes. It took me 6 weeks of daily stretching and effort to finally manage it. As soon...

NICE Guideline review: Call for evidence on myalgic encephalomyelitis (or encephalopathy)/chronic fatigue syndrome, deadline 16th Oct 2019

@daftasabrush Three patient reps are on S4ME - myself, @adambeyoncelowe and @saranbonser . We are not hiding our details, nor blocking PMs. So it is not difficult to make contact. I am reading many threads here closely, even if I don’t always comment. However we can only share information...

    UK advocacy, campaigning what’s happening?

It’s a good post @Samuel - don’t delete it. I get your points about the severe too. Any of us could go there - we just don’t know what’s round the corner for any of us.

Activity baseline vs activity ceiling, why concepts and language matter

I really do like the energy ceiling idea - and the budget one too. As for a baseline - well as others have said that implies that a baseline is somewhere to start to increase from. And there is no certainty that we can alter our own well-being by our decisions to do so! I think one’s energy...

Stanford Community Symposium 2018: Phair, Metabolic traps, Tryptophan trap

I’m just on the iPad just now, but I’ll fire up the computer later and send you some stuff in a PM. PS... Edited to add, @RDP I just watched your video at the top of this thread. :) Really that trap idea seems to make so much sense! I wonder can there be multiple traps? Given my n=1...
