Brian Hughes - If you spend 20 years gaslighting your patients, perhaps you should think twice before accusing *them* of trolling *you*

I think many would happily use a kind of oxymoron like "uncounscious malingering". And indeed the reference to secondary gains is symptomatic of it. It's not malingering, but the patient is finding advantages in being sick, but it's not really conscious, but maybe a bit....

Brian Hughes - If you spend 20 years gaslighting your patients, perhaps you should think twice before accusing *them* of trolling *you*

To be precise, MS said that's how doctors view us. (but IMO, it's a way to say it without saying it. "Some say..." should always be followed by a firm condemnation, if not it remains ambiguous.)

ME charities' response to the Reuters article

The exit door is wide open in front of them, but I'm not sure they see it nor that they have any strategy. When I see that Sharpe hangs on to his motto "read the paper", as if he believed that anyone was to be magically convinced of the validity of his work after reading (as it used to be during...

ME charities' response to the Reuters article

As anyway, their tactic is to accuse us of organising campaigns, even when there's none, the risk in setting up a coordinated campaign would be to be accused of organising a coordinated campaign, wich they heve yet accused us of... so maybe worth coordinating a campaign, not much to lose.

Yes, it's not the important media article taking on the PACE story we're waiting for, it's more against Liddle. But it's not bad and it's way better than the other articles that swallowed the Reuters' narrative. (and it links to @dave30th open letter and Hilda Bastian's piece.)

Specially when he, in reality, has already left the field a few years ago, but just wants to be more dramatic by claiming he's leaving because of twitter harassment.

Are Wessely, Sharpe & Co psychologically manipulating gullible journalists into writing articles that present them in a good light?

And with easy patients, because despite what he keeps saying everywhere about the abuse he endures, that has nothing to do with the harsh work within a psychiatric ward, with psychotic patients.

Indeed, you're right, hurt. But that does not change anything to what I said. "Because ME sufferers have been hurt by a bunch of bad psychiatrists, that doesn't mean we should throw the baby with the water. For many, many patients, psychiatry has been a life saver."
