 I find this a bit disturbing too. I have more than a passing interest in voluntary assisted dying etc. and the action immediately looked very much to me like a plea to be helped to die. Seeing a child do it took me aback.
There have been reported deaths from ECT, some due to the anaesthesia but most due to cardiac events which could not be definitely linked. I think anti-psychotics are equally dangerous - or safe if you think the risks are small.
For the 30 years we were together, my husband had bipolar disorder...
Great job! Your voices blend really well and yes, the harmonizing is really lovely. I love your guitar playing too. It brought a tear to my eye - and I don't do tears! I hope this reaches far and wide.
When I wake up in the morning and am overcome with the tidal wave sensation that I have no energy to get anything done - I call that fatigue.
When I walk 50 metres along the footpath and I'm suddenly overwhelmed by leaden legs and weakness - I call that fatigue.
When I'm doing something that...
What are your thoughts on this @Penelope McMillan?
Would an approach to Clementine Ford, or someone like her, be best coming from an ME/CFS organisation?
Another terrific discussion. A lot of information was put across about PACE, with some real life experiences to illustrate how serious the disease can be and also to highlight the genuine harm caused by the insidious reach of psychiatry. The last I had to do with Centrelink was a few years on...
I've been trying to think of something good to say about this mess of an article and all I can come up with is that Shepparton is a country town, albeit a large one with 50k people, so not a huge number will read it.
Thank you @dave30th! I thought it was a terrific talk.
It took me a few sessions to get through because I needed to stop for breaks so I didn't miss anything due to my brain giving up. Personally, I really liked not being distracted by anything extraneous to watch - except the slides which I...
Thanks @MEmaid. That was interesting. I doubt it applies to me because my ferritin levels have never been more than slightly low. Oral supplementation works for me and my C-reactive protein is always absolutely normal.

Still about hair loss but not related to stem cell research:
From the 1990s I had frequent episodes of chronic telogen effluvium. (It is diffuse hair loss lasting around six months, apparently in response to physical or psychological stress. Usually the hair grows back but not always to the...
Thanks. Using that criterion, given the US population is around 326 million, that would be a prevalence of 3.26 million, not one million as the interviewer said.
I thought it was excellent too.
One thing puzzled me. If there are supposedly 250,000 with ME/CFS in Australia and 1 million in the US, which has a population 13 times more, something doesn't add up.
As I saw it, it was another opportunity to get the message across about PACE; the problem of the name; that ME/CFS is about organic dysfunction not faulty cognition and so on; the use of Oxford criteria and the logical invalidity of any studies which use them; and the fact that "exercise...

Norman Swan is the founder of the huge Tonic Health Media organization which aims to bring very basic health information to the masses. The leaflets and film clips played in doctors' surgeries and exercise programs in businesses are examples. Their reach is far and wide and is based on...
