Webinar 4th June 2024: Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh RCPE: ME/CFS and Long COVID

Just a throwaway comment not particularly to do with this. I see webinars, inquiries etc. at a volume I don't think I've ever seen before. Am I wrong in that regard or is there really an uptick in these things?

Dr Karl Morten - UK researcher based at Oxford University

There are a number of problems donating to individual projects for me. I'd first have to vet it as you point out, for which I like skills and energy. Then, if a project doesn't get funded in full, where does the money go? Another thing is payment options. I don't have a credit card, so I usually...

The Netherlands - €28.5 million ME/CFS research program - ZonMW funding awards announced April 2023

A new round of subsidies by ZonMw, researchers are forced to collaborate with at least one of the consortia that previously got funding. Which in the case of ME/CFS Lines could lead to a further waste of money.

2024: Twitter campaign aimed at John Oliver and Jon Stewart

It looks like a good example of grabbing the narrative. There's some great stuff in all those memes that can be used way beyond today. Someone actually made one concerning the activist trope with me-patients in beds. I'll try to see if I can find it.

I'm getting confused with the different time-zones. Will the big push start in about 3 hours from my current post?

2024: Twitter campaign aimed at John Oliver and Jon Stewart

I can't think of any memes yet, but I'll be sure to be liking, sharing and commenting for a couple hours at least. I'm also thinking on how to get family members that have twitter to respond to this. Really hope it creates a lot of buzz.

BBC: Long Covid course [LP] is ‘exploiting people’, says ex-GB rower, 2024, article and radio program

Goes for all the quack treatments. My stay at het Roessingh costed 15.000 euro's for a course of CBT/GET of 5 or 6 weeks on and off. We were with a group of 6. That's 90.000 euro's. Just for that group. Then there was the kids group that raked in even more. A FM group with the same model. And...

The Netherlands ME/CFS Cohort and Biobank (NMCB) consortium

Not using it, so why not :D . On a more serious note, I will fill in the forms tomorrow. I'm not planning to die anytime soon, but if I do I'd want my body to be used to help science.

BBC: Long Covid course [LP] is ‘exploiting people’, says ex-GB rower, 2024, article and radio program

Ridicule is an awfully powerful weapon against people who claim the ridiculous and are reliant on faith. I'm definitely gonna keep using these two terms. I saw a third one somewhere in this thread but have forgotten what it was. There are so many angles you could ridicule them from.

My thoughts exactly. It's a very damning piece all-in-all.

Poll: What is your most disabling symptom?

I guess at the moment it's PEM, just with a slight edge over other problems. The reason I chose PEM is because I always have to think about every little thing I do and the potential trade-off. Cognitive issues, lack of energy are very debilitating in their own right. If it was just that I...
