boy diagnosed with autism when he just needed antibiotics

Sorry to hear the improvement was short lived, but very interested to hear the other stuff. I have to admit ME to me feels like an infection of some sort that is lingering. Best month I’ve had since getting ME was the one after a week on antibiotics for an unrelated injury.

boy diagnosed with autism when he just needed antibiotics

Mental health issues? Autism? Or really an infection causing changes to the brain? Interesting article from BBC. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-46989099 “A mother is calling for greater awareness of a little-known condition she believes changed her easy-going son...

Trial By Error: Some Thoughts About an Upcoming Article

I trust you enlightened him to the nature of the “fierce battle” - ie not patients vs researchers, but rather one group of researchers vs another group of researchers, scientists and informed patients! ;)

UK Parliamentary debate today - Thursday 24th January 2019

Agree some speakers didn’t take the angle that might have been taken, if they had spent a few hours on S4ME, but considering the very many issues that MPs have to keep up to speed on, I think the debate went outstandingly well. :)

UK Parliamentary debate today - Thursday 24th January 2019

It was excellent, despite some MPs obviously feeling the time pressure as they spoke. Some very good speakers and points made. I thought the response was less of a brush off than the last time. A bit more notice being taken.... but we’ll see where this all goes next I guess. Now to try...

Treating medically unexplained physical symptoms: Effective interventions are available (1997) Sharpe & Mayou

And the less seriously the doctor takes their patient’s symptoms (and the more the doctor trivialises those symptoms) the more the patient needs to protest. Thus the patient feels they must explain again and again that their symptoms are seriously affecting their lives. So the doctors...

    Ketogenic diet

Of course there will be many stories. There might be a few food lobbies with vested interests in keeping the status quo with how the population eats. An alternative view: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/side-effects/gout

"This is M.E." booklet by Action for ME - Feedback survey

Bust is less of a problem word than boom. Boom implies excess by normal standards, and that is the problem. We don’t “boom”. We might gently live a little more than usual, but that’s hardly a “boom”! Bust certainly happens to me though. Often a “bust” period can seem to come out if the...

Article: Verywell: Exercise for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Reading it again - I agree with @Trish. I think sometimes we are just so pleased when an article says to listen to your body!

Article: Verywell: Exercise for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Some sensible advise for sure, BUT I’m not sure about this bit: “Other low-impact exercises include: Bicycling Walking Step aerobics (if you're in fairly good shape)”

    Observer and/or Researcher Placebo?

Yes @Peter Trewhitt You are of course right there is much more going on with BPS research, beyond just this inability to listen. It was the passing thought that our BPS researchers treat our comments as though they can’t understand what we say - or put another way as if we are animals - that...

    Observer and/or Researcher Placebo?

If certain researchers have a tendency to discount patient testimony, does that mean these researchers have the same problem as vets in discerning when a patient has been harmed or helped? I came across this article from Sceptic Vet, through a convoluted web-surf that started with me reading...
