My NHS GP surgery uses patient.info as their source of information to print out for patients. I've been handed articles from there about four or five times over the last few years.
One problem for medical science of all sorts is the constant production of articles in newspapers and news websites that say things like the following :
1) Statins cause diabetes.
2) Statins protect people from diabetes.
3) Statins don't prolong life.
4) Statins save your life.
5) Statins...
I've been thinking some more about the article in Post #1 since I read it. And I realise that my main feeling is one of astonishment that someone thought it was worth writing and someone thought it was worth publishing. From my point of view it's a bit like saying that "water is wet". Doesn't...
This paper was retracted but was then published again - but I can't find the reasons for this :

The paper was published again here :

which is the same link as...
Blaming psychiatric problems for physical illnesses has probably been going on ever since the idea of mental illness first arose in humans (whenever that was). The ancient Greeks thought that women were all hysterical because of those pesky wandering wombs they had.
This has probably already been noted by somebody else, but I can't find it...
The BBC has an article on this paper, and it also has a comments section open for it :

If this has already been posted I'll delete this post.
Someone with the ability to do so will have to check if the Abstract and the rest of the paper are describing the same research. They don't always coincide.
I've had that exact same feeling!
Another similar problem I sometimes have is feeling as though my head is being pushed hard from behind and I am using all my physical strength and also willpower to keep my head up. Yet, if I look at myself in a mirror there is no evidence of this struggle and...
I first read this to mean that you had another wife without ME as well as the one with ME. My reading comprehension is getting worse... Then I realised you were distinguishing between yourself (without ME) and your wife (with ME). Doh!
I had this symptom mainly in my arms for a long time. I could lift my arms above my head but I couldn't keep them up for more than a second before I had to drop them. In my case the problem was massively reduced by getting my iron levels optimised and my Free T3 level improved.
I wrote this post that you might find of interest :

I have been on SSRIs (four different ones at different times) but always found them to be either completely...
I've done this too! Some time ago I was asked what I wanted to drink. I got muddled and tried to say sparkling water and fizzy water at the same time. The words coming out of my mouth were "spizzy water".
I do this too, and it upsets me a lot. The word that I type is essentially random. Others I've found myself getting wrong are pear/pair and you/your (although you/your isn't a homophone).
I am dubious about anyone using the word "balance" in the context of anything medical - conventional or alternative. It so often gets used without anyone ever saying what is being balanced with what and who determines what the "balanced level" of anything should be.
If I have a set of scales I...
You would need an MRI scan. The hole in the centre of my brain was obvious on the scan even to a non-medic like me. The effects on my pituitary were identified by someone with the skill to do so, it wasn't obvious.
Yes, just like the leaders of gangs insisting they must have respect from the gang members. If they don't get the respect they think they deserve then the outcome is often violent. The only difference appears to be the form the violence takes - job loss, being blacklisted etc will have lifelong...

Subtitle : Another big project has found that only half of studies can be repeated. And this time, the usual explanations fall flat.

@Sly Saint I suspect the approach will be multi-pronged and could be more along the lines of making euthanasia legal, reducing pensions further so that old people who are also poor will die of starvation out of sight of the rest of the population, reducing provision for the sick and disabled...
