Problematic training courses - please add

From what I can gather, the WVU Medicine program below was adapted from a Stanford University program designed specifically for cancer survivors. WVU expanded the program to include various chronic diseases, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Here is the original Stanford program, which...

Nasobiotex L. Sakei Probiotic Powder for sinus microbiome - anyone tried it?

One thinkg I never mentioned: I've already been evaluated and scoped by an ENT doc. He told me surgery was not an option and there was nothing he could do for me. My primary are doctor simply prescribed Flonase, which I found essentially worthless. I've been looking for sinusitis solutions on...

Nasobiotex L. Sakei Probiotic Powder for sinus microbiome - anyone tried it?

I've tried it several ways, and these work best for me: Like in the video, letting it sit in water then swabbing inside my nostrils Letting it sit in water, then squirting it deep towards my nasopharynx with an earwashing syringe bulb Applying the powder directly by swabbing it inside my...

Nasobiotex L. Sakei Probiotic Powder for sinus microbiome - anyone tried it?

Apologies if this meanders a bit, but my thoughts have been very scattered for a couple months now. I've been using this product for about a month, and I feel like I'm still learning. I really haven't had the energy to properly track my progress. But I'll note some things I think I've learned...

USA Centers for Disease Control (CDC) news (including ME/CFS Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Calls) - next call 4 Dec 2024

Part of my frustration with the CDC is that while they delay, major healthcare providers such as the Mayo Clinic and Kaiser Permanente (11 million members!) continue to recommend GET and CBT for ME/CFS as if nothing has changed. ETA: A couple current Kaiser Permanente links. Caution: reading...

Nature: A reboot for chronic fatigue syndrome research

I disagree with the story that the psych explanation for symptoms started in the mid 1980s. From personal experience, I can say this narrative was already well established in 1979.

Prevalence of and risk factors for severe cognitive and sleep symptoms in ME/CFS and MS, 2017, Nacul et al

One interesting finding in other reports is that smoking rates are very different in ME, MS, and Depression. In a UK biobank study on cognitive and sleep symptoms in ME/CFS and MS, the following percentage are reported as current smokers: ME/CFS: 10.5% Multiple Sclerosis: 27.7% Healthy...

Esther Crawley's presentations (excluding the 2017 TEDx talk)

I note that Benoit Chassaing from Georgia State University will be speaking. His research has shown that emulsifiers in processed food leads to Crohn's Disease and colitis in mice. He's an expert on the gut and chronic inflammatory disease. One can only hope Chassaing will ask Crawley some...

I have no inside knowledge, but based on his California residency and the statement "Michael is taking part in an academic study which aims to provide some answers. And he still has hope.", I concluded he is likely a patient at Stanford (or possibly OMI) and in a clinical study at Stanford...

USA Centers for Disease Control (CDC) news (including ME/CFS Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Calls) - next call 4 Dec 2024

The Wayback Machine doesn't mention summer 2017, only end of 2017. Thanks for the link, @Andy. That should settle it, and yet... A PR forum post by medfeb states "So far, the update is just the page for the general public. The healthcare providers version to follow this summer."...

USA Centers for Disease Control (CDC) news (including ME/CFS Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Calls) - next call 4 Dec 2024

Thanks for the info. If I recall correctly, the CDC update material was scheduled to be available summer 2017, then delayed to end of 2017. Now it’s early 2018? Why the continued delays?

Jen Brea comments on Esther Crawley's behaviour

The debate has already been elevated from a patients vs. Crawley debate to a scientists vs. Crawley one. This is where the discussion needs to be. I'd rather give a small donation to David Tuller than sign a petition. Disclaimer: I have no children and don't live in the UK.

    Pain poll

As a side note, when I filled out the CCC criteria evaluation form at Stanford (for a study), the "Pain" section was all lumped together. Body pain, joint pain, headaches, etc was all one checkbox. Since I experience headaches, I checked the box. But I have no pain apart from pressure headaches...

I agree with you. Still, the page gives the impression that after nearly a year of "working" on this, the CDC just threw up some links to external sites and didn't even bother to proofread the page. Minimal effort expended. On the plus side, they aren't bad links.
