The ‘cognitive behavioural model’ of chronic fatigue syndrome: Critique of a flawed model, 2019, Geraghty et al

There is literally no physical, psychological, social, or economic metric on which patients do better by being sick. So the central claim of the secondary gains argument is completely false. It couldn't be more obvious and unambiguous. Yet the claim survives and prospers, free of any...

Mystery illnesses reveal the power of our minds to influence health, New Scientist

I have never found the computer software-hardware metaphor useful for describing and understanding biological systems ('wetware'). Very misleading metaphor that should not be used.

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

No point in getting the data because they stuffed up the randomisation. Any further outcomes data would be meaningless.

NDIS: NDIA meeting with Emerge and ME Australia

A new government, looking for bricks to throw at their predecessors, could help there. One thing is for sure, nothing much will change for the next month. (For the benefit of non-Aussies, we have a national election on 18 May.)

A general thread on the PACE trial!

Sharpe's tactic of blocking those who disagree, especially when they cite evidence, is going to backfire badly on him.

Special Report - Online activists are silencing us, scientists say Reuters March 2019

I think @dave30th is entitled to a right of reply. Reuters owes him that much at least. Kelland knew exactly what she was doing. It's a hit job, designed entirely to destroy an effective and legitimate critic.

Blog: 'Summary so far of "Something in the blood"' by Simon McGrath

If the results from all four methods hold up for bigger sample sizes, then we are cooking with gas. :nerd:

Trial By Error: Letters to Fiona Godlee and Nigel Hawkes

The hypocrisy of the BMJ is breathtaking, and more than a little disturbing. :grumpy:

Managing Chronic Fatigue using Scientific Insights from N-of-1 Studies - 2018 - Dr Suzanne McDonald, Qld Australia

I would be happier with one on the wrist and one on the ankle. But at least they are using them.

"Answer to IBS is in the mind" - media coverage of new Chalder/Moss-Morris trial

Bean counters will most likely be the ones who actually bring the axe down on this madness.

News article - The crippling brain condition doctors say is all in your mind

The cognitive-linguistic gymnastics these clowns will indulge in just to avoid simply saying 'I don't know', never ceases to amaze me.

NIH: Accelerating Research on ME/CFS meeting, 4th and 5th April 2019

Three independent teams, using three different methods, with the same result. Given the methodologies are sound (including statistical power), then this is looking like the best possibility so far for both a specific and unique (?) biomarker, and a leading research clue.:)
