'My horrendous illness leaves me in bed for 20 hours a day' - Hull Daily Mail Mar 2019

I had to laugh at that poll. I mean, is that the most pointless poll on a page ever, or what?! :banghead:

Worsening muscle soreness / pain / fatigability

Hi folks, This could have gone in the Pain and Inflammation sub, but I chose this sub because what I seem to be experiencing is worsening muscles issues which I think are linked to fatiguability. My muscles are just so sore. I am now getting this slight burning pain I associate with...

Independent (Ireland), 'It felt like I had a bad virus and a hangover', March 2019, LP in the news again

First that's an awfully written article with mistakes and repetition of full paragraphs. Looks like he is now an LP practitioner in Canada: https://thrivingtherapies.com/ https://lightningprocess.com/canada/jason-mctiernan/ I honestly don't know what to make of these stories. It frustrates me...

Cognitive and behavioural responses to symptoms in adolescents with CFS: A case-control study nested within a cohort, 2019, Loades et al

I totally despair. She's in it for the papers (and subsequent funding) isn't she. This stuff is not worth the paper it's printed on. It's amazing how much work you can get out of an awful questionnaire.

Decreased Expression of the CD57 Molecule in T Lymphocytes of Patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 2019, Espinosa and Urra

god i hate this. it reminds me of those dark early days around the Lake Tahoe outbreak when the media used to refer to the illness as this. I think it's maybe an Americanism...?

Dr Sarah Myhill on The ME Show (series 2, episode 6)

Has anyone read the series of three papers she put out (which she talks about in the podcast)? I don't want to judge a book by its cover, but they look very amateurish. The latest news is that they have a new paper ready to submit, and are 'finding an appropriate journal' which is probably by...

Dr Sarah Myhill on The ME Show (series 2, episode 6)

she has a history of engaging in pseudoscience - anti-vax, pro-homeopathy, etc. her little equation ME = CFS + Inflammation just has no scientific credibility.

Advice RE claiming UK benefits, paying NI contributions

This page (https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/employment-and-support-allowance/before-you-apply-for-esa/eligiblility-for-esa/) states: There are 2 types of ESA - called ‘contribution-based’ and ‘income-related’. Advice RE claiming UK benefits, paying NI contributions

It's also possible that I could pay some voluntary money now towards my NI/tax record so that I could claim for contribution-based ESA and not just income-related ESA (Universal Credit). Is this worth looking into?

Advice RE claiming UK benefits, paying NI contributions

Ok, it seems like as I live in an area where UC is available, and because I have some income (although very low), I will have to make a claim for UC. As for the freelance income, I should probably declare myself self-employed, even if I end up paying no tax...

Advice RE claiming UK benefits, paying NI contributions

Thanks for the replies. Main confusion is whether I just look to start a Universal Credit claim, or whether I first have to go to the old system - ESA? Can anyone here advise on this? @Sly Saint youre reply makes me think the two systems are not independent... Can I rule out looking into PIP...

Advice RE claiming UK benefits, paying NI contributions

Hi all, Looking for some advice given it's possible I may have to go down the route of claiming benefits. First a little about me: I'm a single 31 y/o who will soon be living alone in a flat. I have savings but these fall under the limit over which you can't claim certain benefits. I am mild...

Staurt has gone several decades managing his ME pretty well - he seems to have remained mild-moderate and has carved out a successful, active career and he seems genuinley happy and content. Maybe this was luck. But part of me can see how his attitude to his illness may have helped. As he...
