NPR: 2018 April 5. Ineffective treatment often prescribed for low back pain.

So, does that imply that many chronic lower back pain sufferers could be fixed with antibiotics of the type that are prescribed for severe acne?

Thanks @Little Bluestem . I'll do some research. It might benefit a couple of people I'm thinking of.

Turning badmouthing of ME/CFS on social media into something positive - a fundraising possibility

Yes, I prefer your suggestion to #JusticeForME, but I would be happy with either.

Or preferably#JusticeForME - capitalization to separate words is essential I think.

Turning badmouthing of ME/CFS on social media into something positive - a fundraising possibility

Yes, I realise that some people won't know what ME is. I had heard of ME and CFS before I started reading forums on the subject, but I wasn't familiar with the PW part. Keeping things as simple as possible is a worthy goal, but personally I think we should include the name of the disease people...

Unfortunately, the person I'm thinking of has been to chiropractors before. One of them made him faint. Several of them have made him worse. A few have achieved nothing either good or bad. He would never agree to see another one.

Can you let us into the secret? What is it called? I know people with bad backs who are probably willing to try anything.

Cognitive Impairments in Fibromyalgia Syndrome: Associations With Positive & Negative Affect, Alexithymia, Pain Catastrophizing.., 2018, Duschek et al

I've come across the concept of pain catastrophizing before. And it makes me bloody furious that patients are automatically blamed for suffering this. Imagine a patient has a condition that doctors either don't believe in or assume that patients exaggerate the effect. Examples would be anything...

    Myalgia, amitriptyline and alternatives

If you soak in Epsom Salts that will improve your magnesium levels. Another option is magnesium oil which is sprayed on the skin - it can be bought ready made or it can be made at home very cheaply. Perhaps when you have taken magnesium supplements in the past you have taken one that didn't suit...

    Myalgia, amitriptyline and alternatives

Some people find that they can't tolerate vitamin D supplements. It turns out that low magnesium can cause this. If people improve their magnesium levels they can eventually tolerate vitamin D supplements. Unfortunately the standard magnesium blood test is not very reliable. The body keeps...

    Myalgia, amitriptyline and alternatives

Have you ever had your vitamin D level measured? Do you know if it is optimal? I found that improving my vitamin D level up to optimal (100 - 150 nmol/L or 40 - 60 ng/mL) had an impressive effect on reducing muscle pain. If your doctor won't test it for you, you can get it tested privately...

    I've gone nocturnal again :(

Yes, I always feel at my worst in the mornings. I'm at my best, physically and cognitively, when most people are starting to wind down for the day. So, for example, late afternoon or early evening I can often go to the supermarket and can push a trolley around quite normally and at a healthy...
