Crowdfunding: Trial by Error [David Tuller] Reporting on ME, CFS, ME/CFS, "medically unexplained symptoms," and related stuff, Spring 2021

Hoping to donate this week as seemingly being paid a couple of days early. @dave30th seems to be the only person effectively flagging up the state of paediatric " research" . Long may it continue.

Discussion of suggestions for the ME/CFS Priority Setting Partnership, deadline 5th July - extended to 7th July.

My daughter has not filled the survey out yet but her half joking quip when first looking at it was To determine the medical education, worldview and mode of patient interaction for medical staff involved with ME/ CFS care. Development of medical practitioner assessment scale.

Qualitative study of the acceptability and feasibility of acceptance and commitment therapy for adolescents with [CFS], 2021, Crawley et al

People seem to forget the way children learn. They use language that is given until experience redefines constructs. So they take a predefined vocabulary and meanings as fitting their situation until it dosnt or other experience redefines language. This is basic . So yes children describe...

Qualitative study of the acceptability and feasibility of acceptance and commitment therapy for adolescents with [CFS], 2021, Crawley et al

One positive may be the realisation that the one size fits all CBT " treatment" may not be the engaging model previously described . Again little real understanding or empathy ( how many years has this been going on?) ACT is the new CBT - handy when NICE have put question marks on the model...

Sarah's adventures in blocking out light

Envirograf do fire and acoustic products. One of their acoustic seals is basically a brush on an angle which may master any gaps ( depends on width). Bonus is it deadens sound . The batwing seal is a retrofit to doors - it can make doors more difficult to close but would address gap at source...

Discussion of suggestions for the ME/CFS Priority Setting Partnership, deadline 5th July - extended to 7th July.

I think JLA looks to fill gaps in research , so I don't know how replication sits within that framework. Given COVID there is perhaps more chance that top 10 research questions formulated at the end may actually attract researchers and funding. I agree with @Andy ' s suggestions. Pre...

Dr Myhill’s complaint to GMC about PACE authors.

My aunt is currently under Myhill. She has been abandoned by her GP ( reading between the lines it looks like a psychosomatic belief) and there are zilch specialist services here and very few consultants wanting to take responsibility for anyone with ME. My aunt had severe palpitations - 2...

George Monbiot on ME/CFS, PACE, BPS and Long Covid

I wonder if GM has any idea re state of paediatric research and what families go through. That's a whole different ball game.

Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

BBC failed to be impartial a long time ago. They follow a line these days with occasional blips. Given the very slow traction on a number of fronts with BBC I don't think they are currently capable of better.

Anticipation of and response to exercise in adolescents with CFS: An experimental study, 2021, Loades, Chalder et al

Looks like @dave30th could have a similar relationship with Loades as he does with EC- Loades now has a plethora of papers in a similar ilk. What would Workwell/ Jason / Rowe make of this I wonder ? If anyone can flag this up to Davenport on twitter it may be interesting. Or to longCOVIDkids
