Dr Myhill’s complaint to GMC about PACE authors.

It's good, but I would think she really needs lots more. There must be so many people.

How to follow up on the Carol Monaghan debate in Westminster

Yes, I was thinking along the same lines. This will all die a death unless more follow-up debates happen. It's a bit like keeping a ball in the air - it just drops to the ground without determined and continuous efforts to keep it up; the ball has just been kicked into the political air. I'm no...

BBC video, 'when mental health gets physical'

These people only exist in these roles because of the PACE trial and its spin-offs, and the cult following that it incubated.

Tues 20 Feb | UK parliamentary debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan, MP

Even if the limbs have the capability, if the physiological signalling to them is screwed, it will still be a physiological condition.

Tues 20 Feb | UK parliamentary debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan, MP

Ooooh Sir Simon ... careful those slopey shoulders of yours don't let that knighthood slip. You have gone on record many times after all, saying what a wonderful trial PACE was.

Tues 20 Feb | UK parliamentary debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan, MP

If this could shift PACE into the political arena and thereby reported by political journalists, the SMC's stranglehold on science media reporting might become much less significant. (I almost missed a typo, where I missed the 'f' in shift ... was almost tempted to leave it ;) ).

Tues 20 Feb | UK parliamentary debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan, MP

'Scandal' is a very good word. It's a word that people tend to tune into, and headline writers like.

Rethinking the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome—A reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of graded exercise and CBT

I suppose this is roughly analagous to a taxation law, that is then explained in more detail in a guideline document. The guideline document has no remit to change the law itself.

Trial By Error: A Letter to BMJ Open

One of the letter's great strengths - amongst many - is that it tightly focuses on just one issue, but an issue that is absolutely damning and totally inescapable.

Rethinking the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome—A reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of graded exercise and CBT

When I read about the PACE trial and its illusory outcomes, I always come back to the one thing I know, like I really really know ... I first met my wife in 1977, and we have been together ever since; she went down with ME in 2006. She has always had a very strong drive to do as much as she is...

Tues 20 Feb | UK parliamentary debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan, MP

They may prefer to attend and see which way the wind might be blowing first. I think in these sort of cases such allegiances can be influenced by who might drop who in the sh*t.

Tues 20 Feb | UK parliamentary debate: PACE trial and its effect on people with ME - Carol Monaghan, MP

It would certainly be very poor if no one from the department of health turned up! I'm sure they would like to snub it, but hopefully will want to know what goes on.

    Data Sharing & Reanalysis

[My bold] Oh well, that argument is obviously completely rational, given how they fully justify their reasoning for it not being appropriate ... not!:rolleyes:.

Support and inform Scottish MP Carol Monaghan ahead of her debate on the PACE trial in Parliament, Tuesday 20th February 2018

No, I fully understood you were not knocking Carol's efforts. It is immensely frustrating that nothing seems to change despite all efforts. I'm just hoping that the general mood is changing, and that some things may be harder to sweep under the carpet now. I think that even though the outcome of...

UK: Short, simple letter to your MP to ask them to attend the Carol Monaghan PACE debate on 20 Feb

Sent an email, which I posted here, https://www.s4me.info/threads/meaction-urge-your-mp-to-attend-parliamentary-debate-on-pace-trial-tuesday-20-feb.2402/#post-45111, but realise probably would have been better in this thread. Link to it therefore.

Support and inform Scottish MP Carol Monaghan ahead of her debate on the PACE trial in Parliament, Tuesday 20th February 2018

I fully agree with your disgust at this Graham, but I think it needs to be seen in context. As yet the wider world still has no real understanding of ME, nor interest in it. And although there are highly political aspects to the PACE trial, it has always been successfully kept under wraps...

Netherlands - Women in science are missing out on dozens of millions of euros

I work in the UK for a large German company, and although we have some female engineers and scientists in the UK, the proportion seems significantly higher in Germany. From my experience (both UK and Germany) they are all supremely good. I do wonder if the answer to the UK's productivity problem...
