New book: "M.E. and Me: A Doctor's Struggle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome"

The group seems to have a diverse membership but attracting a fair few fairly recently diagnosed folk and people currently dealing with nhs clinics, folk asking about the usual suspect “treatments” and anything else that pops up on google. Dr H is pretty forceful in opposition to the NLP type...

Annie Hoppers Dynamic Neural Retraining System

These programmes seem to come in 57 varieties but all boil down to the same fundamental bullshit. Ignore your symptoms and tell yourself you’re better.

    It's not malaise!!!

So from the linguistic side we've got @Dechi confirming that "une malaise" is feeling pretty seriously unwell and from the medical side @Jonathan Edwards confirming the same. Malaise isn't a word that's commonly used in UK English so it has that going against it in a way but then exertion...

Blog: Precise.ly: New name, same mission. [Company is part of the 5 year NIH funded multi-center study]

I’ve got an Oura ring. They are set up for healthy people would be good if they could do a version of their app that is ME adapted so you wouldn’t get the irrelevant comments. Also needs an upgrade to include heart rate monitor during the day not just the snapshot HRV score from your overnight...

Trial By Error: The Crawley Chronicles, Continued

Bristol must have simply taken Crawleys word that there's nothing in any of the complaints against her. Basic thing about investigating any complaint is to actually explore the issues before deciding to back someone. Otherwise you eventually have to back down and the longer it goes on the more...

Fiona Fox (SMC) blog: Research councils: Independence once lost, is hard to recover

Good grief it’s just name dropping/creeping up/self aggrandisement wrapped up as some kind of “insightful”media/political analysis.Even creeping up to Gove. The SMCs younger selves would despise this. No wonder the BPS crew get on so well with the SMC it’s all bullsh*t

ScienMag: Usual antidepressants may not work in patients with chronic illness

Dunno about working well either for sleep or menopause. I think often people keep taking them cos they make a bit of a difference. Im working on getting something to replace Nortryptiline for sleep as the benefit is barely worth the negatives. Not heard of them being used for Menopause I was...
