Apologies for off-topic, but it is interesting to look at how Google portrays various diseases.

LLewellyn King: The Monster Disease Medical Schools Don’t Mention

The Monster Disease Medical Schools Don’t Mention http://whchronicle.com/the-monster-disease-medical-schools-dont-mention/ Nice article by Llwellyn King calling on medical schools to teach their students about ME/CFS. As usual, King conveys the severity of the disease. This article is showing...

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

Sometimes the little victories just feel so very rewarding. :)

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

An update from Healthwise, after I argued that ME/CFS should not have warnings about patient groups causing harm, as other comparable diseases have no such warnings: This change should then be reflected on the Kaiser Permanente website, as well as other sites that subscribe to Healthwise content.

#MEAction - CDC revises its information on ME - by Jaime S

Of perhaps some relevance, from the recent expert clinician summit in Salt Lake City (bolding mine): Personally, I would like to see LDN tried more often by doctors.

#MEAction - CDC revises its information on ME - by Jaime S

Well written, @JaimeS. Thanks for doing this. I think the CDC's emphasis on pacing gives a way to open up dialogue with certain healthcare providers. It's a starting point, at least. Some providers still recommend standard exercise with no consideration for activity management or the...

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

Just sent off a note to Healthwise. I expressed concern regarding their list of ME/CFS patient group warnings, noting the absence of patient group warnings for other diseases. I also invited Healthwise to join S4ME.

CDC Posts NEW CONTENT on ME/CFS (July 12, 2018)

The major problems I see are the recommendation for increased (aerobic) exercise, the lack of specific treatment recommendations (besides exercise), the requirement for individualized chronic care (very expensive and without strong evidence it will lead to better outcomes), and putting primary...

Press Release: IQuity Launches Healthcare Analytics Platform (predicts MS with 90% accuracy)

IQuity has been covered in the forums before, but this looks like new news. IQuity claims they can predict Multiple Sclerosis with 90% accuracy at least 8 months before traditional methods. They also claim their approach "can be applied to any disease". IQuity Launches Healthcare Analytics...

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

Further, belonging to ME Association in the future implies susceptibility to viral infection in the past. This is a quantum mechanical effect, and so perhaps we need more quantum physicists working on solving ME/CFS. ;)

Workwell Foundation letter to healthcare providers: Opposition to GET for ME/CFS

In the future, perhaps. But right now there is a lack of evidence base. I don't recall the CDC mentioning step or heart rate monitoring. There is much evidence regarding managing blood sugar levels and diabetes. Not so much when it comes to ME/CFS and heart rates. Without what they consider a...

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

I should mention that Healthwise lists no warnings about Multiple Sclerosis support groups, Fibromyalgia support groups, or Parkinson's support groups. Only ME/CFS has a warning list of support group types to avoid and that certain types of groups can cause harm. :cautious:

Workwell Foundation letter to healthcare providers: Opposition to GET for ME/CFS

This "not a blanket prescription" is a problem. Modern managed healthcare demands standardized treatments to be rolled out across the organization. For example, Kaiser Permanente's flavor, called "Complete Care", "creates a standardized infrastructure and approach to disease management"...

Workwell Foundation letter to healthcare providers: Opposition to GET for ME/CFS

@Keela Too Thanks for pursuing this. The CDC gives so little specific treatment guidance, so specifically recommending increased aerobic exercise will be noticed by healthcare providers. The CDC is telling healthcare providers little has changed, that ME/CFS can continue to be treated with...

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

This is just somewhat related. I remember Healthwise having some warnings about "CFS" support groups in the past. Unfortunately, I never thought to save such pages. Currently, Healthwise encourages support group participation, but has some warnings, including "Some groups may cause more harm...
