A crumb of a clue on epidemiology

How interesting…thank you! I do have quite a strong Irn Bru habit which I’m eyeing suspiciously…apart from that I’m out of ideas. Crazy to think Scotland had no ME services until recently given it’s the birthplace of it (joking)!).

    CFSME ATLAS site

I feel like someone else here was thinking of building such a website? Or was it wishful thinking. Can anyone recall? Certainly, this is exactly the right place to look for help and support for such a project.

Yes he should ask here and we will state whether it’s passed the Tuller Test.

A crumb of a clue on epidemiology

I was looking for that famous “outbreak” of ME in America and came across this list. Iceland seems over represented https://ammes.org/outbreaks/

A crumb of a clue on epidemiology

They used people with majority of something white ancestry, I forget how they put it, but they used mine and mine is majority European but also includes black African.

Undescribable, subtle sensation of suffering in response to exposure to the outside world and activities

I can distinguish between the “impending doom” version and the “every cell is screaming” version because the “doom” one has an emotion attached to it (embarrassment, guilt, regret, hopelessness) and the other version doesn’t. But I only ever experienced the “impending doom” after excessive...

A crumb of a clue on epidemiology

Is it too much of a stretch to think about the decodeME genetic regions? I know they’re not specific but are any of them correlated with diseases that are high among say, Northern European or British? also how recent/strong would the Scots/English ancestry need to be? 3 generations? Six?

Undescribable, subtle sensation of suffering in response to exposure to the outside world and activities

It sounds similar to, but not quite the same as “impending doom”? I feel (after outside social interaction) a sort of fatigue which seems to radiate out from every cell of my body but isn’t located in one place. Usually by this point I have actual pain in my muscles as well, my breathing is...

Probably some sort of treatment. There are a lot of people claiming you can recover!

Recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome: a reflexive thematic analysis of experiences of people before, during and after treatment, 2025, Chalder+

“Ere Bob, you seen that new paper just published by Chalder? Fails the Tuller test, unsurprisingly”.

When High Scores Hide Realities: Enhancing Patient Survey Data Through Joint Display, 2026, Brierley

If we point out the clinics aren't helping sick people, then we will remove hope! #anti recovery activism

Recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome: a reflexive thematic analysis of experiences of people before, during and after treatment, 2025, Chalder+

There is a feminist concept in film known as the “Bechdel test” which asks whether a film contains two women who have a conversation with each other, that isn’t about a man. It useful because critics can say “this film fails the Bechdel test” and generally people understand the film doesn’t...

When High Scores Hide Realities: Enhancing Patient Survey Data Through Joint Display, 2026, Brierley

So it’s a well-enough run clinic staffed by nice people, but it does bugger all for your health/illness/treatment/condition management. Colour me suprised.

So you should read the whole survey. Seminal piece of research.

I’m just coming out with random stuff now, isn’t a lot of Canada Scottish as well?

Is there any other geographical way to slice and dice it? Counties or cities?

Blog: "Scuba diving in the sea makes my LongCOVID symptoms/PEM almost disappear. For the third time."

Genuinely wasn’t aware and that’s good to know. It also explains why some LC people are being so certain they don’t have ME/CFS and some say they have both.
