But surely a koala's diet is also learned from it's mother so why would it start eating different leaves if it doesn't recognise them as food?

The evidence for causation is not there and it's not helpful to say anything that implies anything other than that the causation is unknown. I believe it makes us look not serious if we do. Consequently I'm not happy with the phrase from the paper that's under discussion so I'm with those...

@chrisb Alternatively you could email as suggested by Russell, and make it clear in your email that your own email and any response will be public eg published on S4ME . More direct than requesting people join this forum that may not want to. eta - you could take the same approach with AfME

I have several problems with this but I don't want to post too critically about it. There's clearly been a lot of work gone into this out of justified desperation and anger. It's good that it is referenced. I hope it has a good effect wherever it goes, or at least that doctors give it the time...

My MP is on a select comittee and has signed, so there doesn't seem to be a problem with comitees. edit clarity

I think it's best to stick to the science and other objective facts rather than motives and anything like ad hominems. Just a general comment from reading the thread; not directed at anyone in particular.

I wonder whether many people with ME do complain. I can understand why some would choose not to. Raising awareness sounds like a good idea to me @Samuel, have you contacted ME Action? Perhaps it's worth starting a thread about complaining.

My thinking too I wonder who judged the competition. It'd be good if the student also received an informed critique of their essay and directions to further reading.(perhaps they did) It is a bit of a muddle of an essay in places, even I can tell that, but it's good that new medical students...
