I do wonder if there are any long covid (or MECFS) papers that we have dismissed on the basis of describing unusual cytokine activity as 'inflammation' or talking about 'T cell exhaustion' or whatever that might be telling us something important underneath the usual memes.

Edit: Just quoted this post earlier to save energy but the relevant part to what was posted above is that the forkhead box protein (FOXP) transcriptional network is apparantly induced by IFNy, amongst other 'inflammatory' signals.

So in laymans terms is it possible there's a story here that could go something like t cells> ifng> foxp4>foxp1>eMSNs Or @hotblack 's memory NK cells or similar on the immune end? I have just discovered NK cells produce IFNy too (probably not news to most of you!) It's all a bit six degrees...

Obviously what you say here is hypothetical but do you mean it in the sense of a massive finding being discovered 'last week' but not written up/published by the lab yet, so we are all unaware? That is an exciting idea!

Since there are drugs targets suggested here including a repurposing opportunity, it seems like it's very important to figure out if these two genes do form an important pathway in MECFS. Are there any research groups that it might be of interest to? Tagging @James Cox just incase it interests...
