"Answer to IBS is in the mind" - media coverage of new Chalder/Moss-Morris trial

In my experience Ami doesn't 'relieve' pain - it's not a painkiller.

Amitriptyline does reduce pain for me, but it also gives me tachycardia, so I can't take it. Since tachycardia is a known side effect mentioned on the Patient Information Leaflet I'm wondering if the connection between the Amitriptyline and tachycardia is understood. It strikes me that it could be useful information about my heart health if the connection was understood, by a cardiologist for example.

It can however make you less concerned about the pain, make it easier to ignore. It's a sedative, at least for me.

This is not the same thing as relieving the pain.

It concerns me greatly that people prescribing it, and writing about it, don't seem to know that.
Wot Wonko said. I can’t stand the stuff.

Although a tricyclic it works on seratonin pathway. Do you have seratonin issues?

I don't know, to be honest. How would I be able to tell?

I suspect that I have difficulty making enough serotonin because I do well on 5-HTP (for depression) which increases serotonin levels. I've been on 5-HTP for years, and was taking it when I first tried amitriptyline. I have never taken a high dose of it though.

Recipe (apols to moderators for being off-topic :p):

Weigh out 50g currants, then roll them flat (squashed flies). Put aside.
Rub 25g butter (spreadable is fine) into 100g plain flour + pinch salt until fine and crumbly.
Add 25g caster sugar.
Add enough milk to bring it together into rollable consistency.
Roll out dough quite thinly.
Spread currants over one half and fold the other half on top.
Roll again.
Cut up into biscuits or biscuit strips or just one ginormous biscuit (marking breaks with pallet knife).
Put on silicon liner on baking tray. Prick with fork.
Brush with beaten egg white.
Bake at 180degs for 12 mins.
Allow to cool and eat. them. all.

Well I made biscuits today. Great recipe ...so quick ....I used raisins instead of currants (used 60g since they were bigger), used gran sugar coz no caster and used whole egg wash because I couldn’t be arsed with separating the white ...but they were delish...especially with coffee.

Thanks @Lucibee

:)

Sorry for the biscuit distraction
