Coping with heat

Just did a quick google for cooling vests in Australia and a window popped up on the Aussie website asking, "are you sure you are in the right place?". I live in frigid Canada.

Hi, yes the humidity was low yesterday which is better than some times when you are dripping. I will look into the cooling vest because when you are at the end of the day the A/C gives up.

I've experienced +40C and -45C, and much prefer the latter (with appropriate clothing).

I actually got my first instance of frostbite (a white bump on a toe) this week. Too bad we can't transfer heat over the internet. I'd accept some of Australia's excess heat.

Indeed. You can always add more layers of clothing or blankets in cold weather (within reason). But you quickly run out of clothes to shed in hot weather.

Hence air-conditioners.

I survived in «only» 35 C with fans and ice water to dip washcloths in. 40+ would be hell.

I remember we once had the genius idea of walking around Dubai when we had a short layover in summer. Just kind of took a taxi a km to the middle of unwalkable hell. It was probably nearing 40 C with high humidity and even just walking a km or two we started feeling super horrid. Seeing the south asian workers barely surviving lounging around in that heat being forced to work outside was really shocking.

Anyways we ended up strolling into some random rich people Hotel and sat at the AC’d lobby until we had worked up the energy to call for a Taxi back.

That sort of heat would probably be lethal with severe ME tbh. Glad that debacle was before I got sick!
