Its even harder to express how grateful we are to YOU David! It makes me feel a bit nauseated to think where we'd be without Trial by Error and all your subsequent work!
Can i suggest that we edit the title of this thread? To start with either 'Crowdfunding' or 'Trial By Error', and to drop the 'DrPH' part (just for the thread title - it confused me & I doubt i the only one). I thought it was a thread about David crowdfunding on behalf of a doctor called 'DrPH' , and I almost completely missed this round of fundraising!! I now realise that DrPH likely means Dr of Public Health, but it took me ages to work out that we were apparently (quite rightly!) now menitoning his proper title (sorry this thread is the first time I've seen that done I didnt know what your proper title was David, apologies), and that this was the thread was actually about his autumn crowdfund. It was only curiosity that made me want to find out who DrPH was (wondered what the PH stood for), that made me click on this thread at all! LOL i realise that makes me sound extremely dense, but I am fuzzy with ME+pain killer side effects and it just didnt occur to me. Trial by error has historically usually been included in the title & I've never seen David Tuller DrPH written like that until now. Given that i normally donate more than once, would be surprised if I were the only one to be this foggy (as seems to be evidenced by the fewer posts in this thread than for the previous crowdfund threads), plus last year the autumn round was in november not october, coupled with the critical need to ensure the trget is met... God forbid it not reach its target! I suggest making the thread title more familiar? I almost missed it! I do get the Berkeley email, but i get so many emails and the 'snail mail' post from Berkeley has to be ignored, so unless I'm feeling like i have energy to spare I just delete the emails and wait for the crowdfunding thread to appear on S4 to prompt me to donate. Please dont misunderstand me @dave30th I'm in no way complaining about the emails, I enjoy hearing from you, but having to prioritise more than usual lately. I dont want anyone else to miss it because of a thread title that is easy to miss if you're very foggy. ETA: this is what i've become used to the thread titles looking like Crowdfunding: Trial By Error [David Tuller]: Reporting on ME, ME/CFS, long Covid, and "Medically Unexplained Symptoms", Fall 2023 | Page 2 | Science for ME (s4me.info)
I'd never heard of the degree before I actually went to Berkeley. Certainly it doesn't need to be in the name of the thread! But I didn't start the thread so not sure how to change the title? I really don't wave around the title except in this context in which I have to face off against knighted people and self-important "Professors."
At David Tuller's talk, I was reminded of: -how important his work is -how good he is at highlighting & challenging problematic statements -how glad I am that I've been able to pull back from such work So happy to be able to support him https://crowdfund.berkeley.edu/project/43450 #MEcfs #LongCovid
As David Tuller is struggling to reach his target (at 68% with less than a week to go), I've just given a 2nd donation. We've seen this week the CBT/GET school haven't gone away with letters to a newspaper & medical journal https://www.theguardian.com/society...view-of-illness-doesnt-help-those-with-me-cfs https://jnnp.bmj.com/content/95/7/6...-me-cfs-guideline-neither-robust-nor-thorough
There are multiple crisis going on now for people. So that will affect this. But I also wonder if people leaving Twitter and Twitter making it more difficult to look at stuff that is there without being logged into an account has made it more difficult to get word out and reminders for the crowd funder now. I used to get my ME news with crowdfunding reminder’s via a quick google search and then jump in to the Twitter threads that came up. I could read the news for a few minutes before it demanded sign in. I’ve noticed being able to do that again recently but it’s not reliable and for a long time you couldn’t even read on single tweet that way. So most people probably won’t do this anymore. News is fragmented across different platforms.
Donation made with deep gratitude for your past and continuing efforts Dave. They're hugely valuable to our community Fingers crossed others able to donate have just been holding off to see how it goes but are prepared to jump in at the last minute to help reach the target, less than a week to go $48,074 71% Raised toward our $67,000 Goal 365 Donors 6 days left
That is a shockingly low number of donors. How many globally directly benefit from David's ongoing work and referencing it, just in the ME patient group, then add in Long COVID.
Finally done. Only one donation this time round, only being 'paid' once a month on universal credit vs once every 2 weeks on ESA means I only have 'excess' money once a month, so I doubled my normal amount.
