The national charity, Action for ME encourages people to work towards recovery in order to get back to their normal lives.

Talking complete rubbish by the second sentence. Working towards recovery will make you crash and could cause a permanent decline. Work towards defining your limits and staying within them would be much better advice. If you're lucky a little recovery might follow, but don't count on it.
