Right now on Twitter, there's a buzz surrounding a protocol developed by two "scientists," Kevin McCairn and Charles Rixey.
According to them, COVID and the vaccine (spike protein) cause amyloid plaques throughout the body, especially in the brain.
They practice Double Filtration Plasmapheresis via the jugular vein and stem cell growth factor therapy.
They operate in Japan and charge $22,000 for two sessions. Three to four sessions are generally required. To have your blood tested, you have to send it to Japan, and they will tell you if you could benefit from the treatment. They filmed people receiving the protocol, and the results appear miraculous.
For pre-COVID MECFS patients, this wouldn't be useful, but they're going to test them...
All the patients would be in remission 9 months after the protocol.
Without meaning to be disparaging, this looks like an anti-vaxxer gathering, doesn't it? Why flee to Japan and not do this in the US, establish a protocol, be judged by your peers, and save millions of lives from LC ?
Aren't they making money off these poor people? But the patients seem to be doing so much better...

The brief description suggests that useful benefit from this specific protocol are highly implausible.
Without any detailed data one cannot say much.

There is no indication what 'double filtration' means. Or why stem cells should be relevant.

I don't think we have any evidence for amyloid plaques being involved either.

Someone’s posted a writeup on this protocol and its creator, Kevin McCairn, on Reddit:

If you’re not familiar, Kevin McCairn is a covid conspiracist and biomedical researcher operating out of Edogawa Hospital in Tokyo, Japan.

From what I can tell, McCairn diagnoses people from around the world with a spike-related microclotting disease via imaging of their blood. He then encourages them fly to his clinic in Japan to spend 4 weeks and $60,000 undergoing his treatment—a combination of aphaeresis and stem cell therapy. Notably, microclot/IACC researcher Resia Pretorius recently said that the alleged microclots McCairn used to affirm one person’s diagnosis and suitability for the protocol “do not look like microclot complexes”. Around 50 people have undergone the treatment so far and McCairn claims his success rate is near 100%.

Unfortunately, this parade of red flags is only part of what is so troubling about this situation. McCairn is active on X (formerly Twitter), which is where promotion of his protocol is concentrated, and his posts there reveal him to be the single most hateful person I have ever encountered in the IACC space.
