Some of the message might be getting lost in the translation, but this part seems to say they were the ones that misinterpreted the NICE guidelines, not that their paper was misinterpreted. So pretty close to "we were wrong":

I guess that can come out as some defense, but it's very hard to misinterpret things this much. The language in the guideline is clear enough, so it's really unconvincing either way. Paraphrasing here, but there's exactly zero way to misinterpret "do not offer treatment programs based on exercise" and pretend like it means it's recommended.

It's just so damn annoying to have this whole Dr Magoo BS where they pretend to be confused because they held their map upside down when the whole profession is so damn sticky about the entire "we don't make mistakes and we know everything about everything and that's why when we say we don't know what's wrong with you, what it really means is that there can't be anything wrong with you, ever".

And then we come along, check their work, and it's filled with literally all the possible types of mistakes, all the way to ignoring almost all the facts, ignoring everything that's been debunked, pretending that things that have been said and used for decade are spanking new, and basically using logical fallacies as if they're actual solid arguments.
