I have been thinking about the Tribunal ruling and the release of PACE data. Recently, in the UK, MPs have been debating ME, and the analysis by Caroline Wilshire et al, and the various articles in the little green book, have underlined what is possible when key data is available. More recently there have been quite a few statements from key institutions about the need to make data more freely available. So how about trying to make 16th August an International Open Data Day? That's the day that the tribunal ruled in Alem's favour. It isn't just ME that needs open data: nor is it only health issues.
Great idea, however there appears to be one already, scheduled for March 2nd this year, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Open_Data_Day
Still, I like the idea of taking a thing from ME that needs to be applied across science and making sure everybody knows where it came from...
Always late to the party! They don't seem to have a particular date, but vary from year to year. Perhaps it would be an idea for me to discuss it with them.
