In the context of PEM, this reads like: Let’s recruit gaslighting victims to help us become better at gaslighting!
The only reason I shared it was it comes from a charity that AFAIK is one of the best for disabled people in general. So somehow making them aware of ME or PEM for their messaging could be useful.
Absolutely. But I’m not even sure that physical activity should be recommended for disabled people in general. They usually have more than enough to do as a result of their disability, so making them use some of their limited capacity on physical activity might not be beneficial. So even without ME/CFS, they need some caveats.
Ah but “you can make yourself healthy with simple lifestyle changes” myths live on. I’d imagine they’d be less common amongst disabled people but I generally haven’t noticed that. Actually the only place I feel like is a refuge from them is this forum and a small number of other activist places for neglected chronic illnesses. A lot of activists with disabilities, especially mechanical disabilities actually seem very invested in physical activity. Maybe they see it as a way to “prove” themselves?
When the paralympics was on they promoted a group with exercises for those with varying disabilities. I was so disappointed when I got the energy to look and nothing seemed appropriate at my level.
