Research Conference in Oslo 20 - 21. November 2017

The Norwegian ME Association is preparing a research conference in cooperation with Oslo university Hospital and the Norwegian Institute of public Health. The first day is for researchers only, primarily from Scandinavia. The second day has an open program and will contain lectures from among others Olav Mella, Mady Hornig and Ron Davis.

Later that day the ME Association will celebrate their 30 year anniversary with a concert and a screening of Unrest.

Not sure yet whether any of the conference will be streamed.

(Post originally posted in thread News from Scandinavia, but made a new thread in order to add the event to the forum calendar)

Ron Davis has cancelled the trip, but doctor Katarina Lien will take his place. She is working on a PhD on ME and exercise intolerance measured with ergospirometry-testing.

@Sasha As far as I know, there won't be live tweeting, but people are working on making live streaming possible. Let's cross our fingers.

News are spreading now in several places, so it is official.. The effect of Rituximab in the trial RituxME is negative.

This is discouraging news. Warms hugs to everyone.

We will keep on looking for treatments. We are not giving up!

Oh crap...

Where is this coming from, though, Kalliope? Have Fluge and Mella said so?

Bit worried about jumping to conclusions...

- Initially, Ron Davis hoped to come, but unfortunately it was impossible due to of family illness. However, he sent a video greeting and a brief update of what his team is working on. Katarina Lien held an interesting lecture on abnormal lactic acid production in ME-patients. Olav Mella gave a summary of the research at Haukeland, and it was another big disappointment for many when he reported that the RituxME study was negative on the main issue - whether Rituximab was effective as a treatment for ME. However, he reminded that there were many other things that were measured during the study and that there were probably many other interesting results in the waiting. Due to technical problems, Ola Didrik Saugstad's lecture went out, and the seminar ended with a panel discussion led by Jørgen Jelstad.
