Translating S4ME Fact Sheets into French

I can’t attempt to comment on the content, I have not used my limited French for over thirty years, before my ME, but I do like the layout and formatting.

Just one point, should the footer also be in French?

Je trouve globalement superbe. J’ai que un ou deux petits commentaires.

La liste à puces au début:

“Elle touche environ 1 personne sur 250”…
Je vois plus souvent écrit “une” que 1

Section Diagnostic:
“doivent être suffisamment graves pour interférer avec la vie quotidienne”…

Je pense que “interférer” n’est pas beaucoup utilisé de l’autre côté de l’Atlantique. Personellement j’utiliserais “perturber” pour cause de simplicité.

Question:
On dit “le MPE” ou “un MPE”? (Je connais pas encore la terminologie “correcte”).

I did not have access to the image that was use for the footer, so I wasn't, able to change it. If i do have access to it, i can translate it

Je pense qu'il est préférable d'utiliser un nombre lorsque le 2e nombre est en chiffre. Je peux toutefois modifier pour 1/250 personnes.
Aucun problème pour utiliser perturber, et j'ai vérifié pour le déterminant privilégié pour MPE et les deux sont utilisés.

je vais faire tous les changements en même temps.

As I wrote elsewhere, I’d remove ‘planifiée’ from ‘l’augmentation progressive planifiée des activités pour étendre les limites énergétiques (pacing up)’

But really, a top notch translation

That is the correct style rule. Normally, in text, we use words for the numbers to ten and digits thereafter but when we have two or more numbers forming part of the same concept, as here, it's correct to use digits for all.

I’m not sure that’s the case in French. I looked online it seems that any number under nine has to spelt out bar a few exceptions like dates, telephone numbers, decimaled values, and addresses.

Don't want to argue too much, but for what I saw, the rule is the same in french. They however note that using words is correct. So I can put both, if words is preferred, i will write « une personne sur 250 »

Lorsqu’on cite deux nombres dans une phrase, dont l’un devrait s’écrire en chiffres, et l’autre, en lettres, on les écrit tous les deux préférablement en chiffres, bien que l’écriture en lettres reste correcte; le contexte l’oblige parfois même. That's a good point, I wasn't considering possible international differences!

Wish I'd realised this was going on a month ago! Is there some form of "international French" like there is "international English", or are texts going to need to be localised to large language groups, such as Canadian French, or Brazilian Portuguese, if we get that far?

There will be plenty more. In fact we'll do something about a French version of the PEM fact sheet shortly.

I think we just aim for forum translations that are broadly acceptable, and if people want to amend the wording for local audiences, they can.
